Hello, my name is Robert Agrippino, I have been a lifelong resident of Boston’s North End (Little Italy) for the last 59 years. My parents were also born and raised here and my mother still lives here. My grandparents on both sides of the family came to the North End in 1898 and 1899.
Growing up here the North End neighborhood was about 98% Italian and Italian American. Everyone knew you by your first and last name.
Back in the 1960’s, 70’s and 80’s, tourism in this part of the city was non-existent.
During the tour I will get into more detail regarding the history.
My parents instilled a good work ethic in their children and by the age of 11, I began working at the market selling produce on Fridays and Saturdays. The market gave me good experience in the produce industry and from there I went to work in the restaurant business washing dishes, busing and waiting tables.
In 1982, I opened my first business, a convenience store on Salem St. and that’s around the time when the native Italians started selling off their property and young professionals moved in and called the North End home.
Eventually my passion was to get back into the restaurant business, which resulted in opening my first restaurant in 1990. Having ample experience in the food industry, since being part of it for many years, I will bring you to all the best establishments in Little Italy from restaurants, pastry stores and salumerias (Italian Deli). There are no tourist traps on this tour, which will totally distinguish my tour from the rest.
My tour guides are also lifelong residents. AUTHENTICITY!!!
